National Barista Championship: First Edition Kicks-off

The first edition of the National Barista Championship was officially launched on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Central Analysis Laboratory of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board located in Akwa Douala. 

Presided over by the General Manager of the NCCB, Mr. Michael NDOPING, this championship brought together over twenty participants from all coffee-producing regions in Cameroon.

In his opening address, the GM of NCCB he said this championship is strategic in the sense that it allows Cameroon to have competitive Baristas on the market, and at the highest level.

The Chairman of the Cameroon chapter of the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA), Mr. Gako Bertrand, during his keynote address, urged the participants to approach the training sessions with dedication and enthusiasm so as to be well equipped for a high-level competition.

Under the tutelage of Mrs. Regine Guion Firmin, Head Barista and representative of AFCA, the participants took part in capacity building sessions so as to excel during the different phases of the competition.

Participants who make it through the preliminary phase of the championship will participate in the final scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025.
