Garoua: Hotel, Restaurant chefs called to be coffee Ambassadors
Hotel and Restaurant Chefs in the city of Garoua have been called to be coffee Ambassadors of the North.
This statement echoed by Mr. Michael NDOPING, General Manager of NCCB was made on Monday the 18th of July 2022 while addressing over 26 Hotel and Restaurant chefs during the opening of a two-day capacity building workshop on “Coffee Brewing Methods”
"This workshop is very crucial because we have come to realize over the years that, the coffee chain from farm to cup involves a series of meticulous stages. One can get it right from the start, but if the brewing is wrong, the previous efforts become wasted. That is why, as Ambassadors of coffee, you all have the most important role to ensure that the coffee in the cup is of high quality". Said Mr. NDOPING.
Bordered with Nigeria and Chad, with an impeccable infrastructural and road network linking Chad and Nigeria, Garoua is home to more than 1.300 000 inhabitants.
"Garoua might not be featured among the key Coffee and Cocoa producing Regions of Cameroon, but it's geo-strategic location as well as its pre-existing tradition of consuming hot drinks, makes it one of the most promising hubs for Coffee and Chocolate consumption" he added.
Accompanied by Mr NANA Abdoulaye, Assistant General Manager of NCCB, Mr WANGBITCHIN Gilbert, Director of International Cooperation and Produce Valorisation, the NCCB delegation also visited H.E ABATE Edi'i Jean, Governor of the North, and Mr. OUMAROU Haman Wabi, Senior Divisional Officer for Benoue.
The exchange centered around presenting the Government's plan on the promotion of local consumption of Coffee and Chocolate, and to canvas for the support of Administrative Authorities in setting up a conducive environment for Coffee and Chocolate consumption in the North Region.
The two-day training workshop ends Tuesday July 19, 2022 at Shalom Hotel.
So far, the capacity building caravan on coffee brewing methods has been to Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Limbe, Kribi, Bertoua, Ngaoundere and Garoua. The team continues to Maroua from July 21-22, 2022.
