Fête du Café 2024 : NCCB drills coffee growers of COOPAGRO on coffee preparation using french press
As part of activities marking the 16th edition of the coffee festival dubbed « Fete du Café », the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB) organised a french press coffee competition aimed at promoting local consumption and familiarising coffee growers of the Agro-Industrial Cooperative (COOPAGRO) with different coffee brewing methods.
The competition held on Friday 30 November 2024 in Koutaba in the Noun Division under the coordination of NCCB’s elite team of baristas. Coffee growers from Bangourain, Foumban, Njimom, Koutaba and Massangam were also introduced to the various stages of coffee preparation using french press.
The event that was attended by several public/private establishments, including the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB), Projet for the relaunch of the Coffee Sector (PARF- CAFÉ ), COOPAGRO member associations, Le Monaster Cistercien, LADY AGRI ,ONUDI, IWCA, PARF- CAFÉ, TERREFIC-COFFEE, BIO, COMPLEXE, L' AFECC, LA MAISON DU CAFÉ.
In the end, Mama Ncharé from Foumban emerged winner of the competition, followed by representatives from Njimom, and that of Bangourain. The three finalists were awarded prizes ranging from water heaters to french press coffee maker and T-shirts.
The event was equally characterised by a session on What is the state of the coffee sector from 2006-2024?
The festival ended with a visit to various exhibition stands.
